Multi-Layer Insulation Materials : -

Flexible multi-layer insulation materials are produced by bonding plastic films with electrical pressboard, fleece materials, fabric or plastic paper. The materials are in most cases produced with three layers, the plastic film being the middle layer. Depending on the material combination, outstanding features of flexible multi-layer materials are very specific values for operating temperature, ductility, tensile strength, expansion, dielectric strength, saturation capability and rigidity.

The combination of plastic films with fibre materials. produces both technical and economic advantages. This is because the properties of each of the individual components combine in an ideal manner with each other when stuck together. The plastic film will, for example, contribute excellent electrical and mechanical proper ties, whereas the fibre material will guarantee good impregnating capacity and protection of the film. By establishing the bond, the tearing and further tearing strength will, for example, be increased; the folding and punching quality improved and the film protected against the damaging effects of oxidation and hydrolysis. Flexible multi-layer insulation materials can be cut, folded, stamped and, within certain limits, can also be reshaped when cold or warm.
